2017 AUSTRALIAN DANCE AWARDS
The 2017 Australian Dance Awards celebrated the very best of Australian Dance across diverse genres and practices. 2017 marked a particularly special occasion - 40 years of Ausdance as an organisation, and 20 years of the awards.
A visual language was developed, inspired by the idea of shining a spotlight on the beauty of a transient moment. An exploration of static movement, celebrating the awarding of talented individuals & organisations across a range of styles and forms, and reflecting on moments in time as we celebrate a significant anniversary.

IT ALL STARTED WITH A PICNIC
From ballet to hip-hop, contemporary to musical theatre - the ADA’s communications needed to speak to a broad, genre-spanning, dance-loving audience. With it's origins in an innaugural 'dancer's picnic' the Awards' unique history informed the use of a contemporary colour palette inspired by Australian flora.
The memorable visual language cohesively unites varied imagery contributed by leading dance photographers that documents works & artists celebrated over the 40 year AusDance history. The identity and it's embedded ideas were then further developed by Grosz Co Lab across all promotional and event elements including motions graphics for the event and promotional TVCs, the recipient trophies, print and online event campaigns, a souvenir program and a social media campaign leading up to the event.
