LAURA'S STILL LIFE FEATURE IN DESKTOP MAGAZINE
Recently Laura was asked to share what inspires her practice in the redesigned and relaunched Desktop Magazine. It went a little something like this...
WEAR: I’m a scent fiend - inspired by the incredible convergence of art & science. Etat Libre D’Orange champion provocative, uncompromising scent design and ‘Fat Electrician’ is no exception.
ATTACK: Gold spray from Manfax Paints - the best & worst thing that ever happened to me. I attack everything with it. I’m living in a metallic haze.
WATCH: For me design and dance are inextricably linked. Composition is choreography and I approach so much of my work from this spatial perspective.
PLAY: I’m rubbish at relaxing, but when I do ideas just arrive. Playing Scopa & having drinks with friends instantly transports me back to breezy holidays in Italy...
READ: Unit Editions publish stunning & insightful design focused books - ‘Scratching the Surface’ goes beyond the superficial and delves into the critical thinking in design.
LISTEN: We like to span the genres in the studio but always on high rotation are Melbourne bands doing their own thing – especially ‘New War’ & our good friends ‘Harmony’.
DOCUMENT: I always have a stack of grid pads on hand – they visually balance out the craziness of my thought patterns. It’s sad but the grid calms me.
